What are you paying for when hiring a weight loss consultant? Partnering with a weight loss consultant is getting more popular each day. And while it works, it is not always that great. But is all you are paying for really what you are going to get?

Will you receive real, tangible, life-changing accountability or only a watered-down version? Weight loss accountability partners should be accountable for their outcomes. Otherwise, they are not true accountability partners. They may make promises that they cannot deliver on - or simply won't try very hard.
Let me give you an example of a weight-loss accountability partner. I have a friend who is a certified nutritionist and fitness trainer. She is also a certified diabetes educator and counselor. She has great plans to help people who want to lose weight and have healthy lives. But she is not working on her plans one single day at a time.
Every morning, she does something that supports her plans to help people. First, she gets up early and makes a healthy breakfast for herself and her kids. She eats a good breakfast and then sets off to work. At the end of the day, she meets with her accountability partner for a weekly meal plan meeting. This is a great way for her to support her weight loss goals but it is not effective if she is not devoting time each week to meeting with her accountability partner to help her reach her goals.
My other friend, who is a licensed nutritionist, needs to eat healthy more often. She is not as strict with her plans as my friend. However, when she does eat, she devotes a reasonable amount of time to her weight-loss accountability partner for meal planning. When she gets home from work, she has a good night's sleep and is ready to take on her next challenge the next day.
Here is the final example of a weight-loss accountability partner helping a nutrition coach to reach her goals. This is actually the perfect example of a weight-loss accountability relationship. This person is a licensed nutrition coach who has met some amazing clients over the years and continues to support her coach in reaching her personal goals.
My friend is a terrific weight loss accountability partner because she encourages me to set goals and do the work to make them happen. She motivates me to be consistent in my plan and make sure that I am using the tools she has created for me to succeed. She also shares with me the things she has found that has helped her to stay accountable such as adding foods to her menu that is easy to digest and satisfying but have little fat, sugar or calorie content. This allows me to eat foods that help me lose weight and feel great while I am eating them!
As you can see, there are many examples of a weight-loss accountability system that works. Your job as a coach is to find one that fits you best. As a client, you will appreciate when you feel like you are making a difference in your own personal journey to become healthy and stay that way. The accountability partners that you choose to be accountable to will provide you with a great source of motivation to maintain your weight loss and develop new healthy habits.
Weight loss accountability partners can be a couple people or a team. In most cases, you will want to find someone that you already have a good relationship with. You don't want to choose a weight loss accountability partner that you will dislike, especially if you have never worked together before. You will also want to choose someone who is willing to do what it takes to ensure you reach your goals and stick with them. Finally, you should find an accountability partner who has the same overall goal as you do and who can inspire you to keep pushing forward even when it gets tough.
When choosing a weight loss accountability partner, make sure that you choose someone who can encourage you, challenge you and support you in your efforts. An accountability partner should encourage you to look at reasons why you may not reach your weight loss goals yet and help you to consider creative ways to get past those challenges. An accountability coach can be very inspiring and encouraging and can give you that extra push that you need to stick to your weight loss program.
Once you find a weight loss accountability partner, set up a weekly check-in time. The accountability partner should make it a point to check in with you every week and should offer encouragement and support during these check-ins. Ideally, you would want to check in with your accountability partner at least once a day. If you can't commit to checking in every day, set up a time that works for both of you and have him/her call you every other day with information and progress updates on your weight loss program.
